Since I turned 28 on Thursday, I’ve been thinking about all the things I had planned to accomplish by now. When I was in college, I had all these crazy goals and aspirations. I thought I was going to accomplish so much more before turning 25.
This isn’t to say that I haven’t accomplished a lot or that I’m not proud of how far I have come since college. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree in English. I have been happily married for almost 4 years. I am finally working a job I enjoy, as a Content Manager for a start-up company, where I have been a part of the company’s growth and success. I have crossed so many things off my bucket list. I saw my first Broadway show last year and visited the flagship Tiffany’s store in NYC. My husband and I moved to the Asheville area. And best of all, I’m so close to publishing my first novel!
I think everyone could use a little more positivity in their life right now, so instead of focusing on the negative, I’m focusing on what I can control. With my 30th birthday creeping up in just two years, I’m coming up with new, realistic goals for what I plan on accomplishing in the next 2 years before I turn 30.
1. Finally publish my first novel!
This goal is the one I care about the most because I have wanted it for so long. I’m so close to completing this goal and plan on self-publishing in August.
2. Pay off my student loans.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. I went to a private, liberal arts college and graduated with a lot of debt. I can only imagine how relieved I will feel when my husband and I are finally debt-free!
3. Buy a house.
I can’t wait for my husband and I to own a house and not have to worry about all the issues that come with renting. Although I know owning a house brings new challenges, I think we are ready for them.
4. Travel to Europe with my husband.
We are planning a trip to Europe for 2 weeks to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary next year. We are still deciding which countries we want to visit, so any suggestions are welcome! He really wants to go to Germany and I would like to visit France, England, and Scotland.
5. Adopt a puppy.
The only issue with this one is my husband and I agreeing on which type of dog to adopt!
Does anyone else make life goals, 1 year, 5 year, or 10 year plans? What are your goals before your next milestone birthday?
